This weekend I did a little bit of everything to celebrate my birthday…there was food, drinks, cupcakes, sunsets and bowling. My birthday is tomorrow, but I celebrated with family on Saturday and friends on Sunday. My parents live out in Northwest Indiana so I drove out there Saturday morning. While my mom and I were out shopping we came across Designer Desserts which is a really cute cupcake shop in Valparaiso, IN.
We ordered three cupcakes, including butter pecan toffee crunch, double D (chocolate, peanut butter & pretzel) and sea salt & caramel. The three are pictured in this order in the top right hand corner below. The butter pecan toffee crunch was my favorite. The other two cupcakes were good, but the frosting had the consistency of caramel which I didn’t really enjoy…I prefer whipped or butter cream icing. We also ordered one frosting filled cookie because my brother loves these types of desserts. This cookie is in the bottom left hand corner and if you can’t tell from the picture, it was sooo sweet…it definitely gave me a sugar coma even though I only had a piece of it!
In the evening I wanted to take a walk on the lakefront and watch the sunset from the Indiana Dunes. It was quite the frenzy to get there before dark and it was MUCH cooler along the lake so this didn’t work out quite as expected.
Finally, on Sunday I celebrated by bowling with my friends. One of my best friends organized a party at 10PIN Bowling Lounge. We had food, homemade cupcakes and drinks while bowling a couple of rounds. The waitress was attentive and the food was good. There were problems with the first two lanes we were on, but the staff was very helpful and accommodating. They even extended our bowling for an hour and gave us extra lanes because of the issues. It was a lot of fun! The pictures below are three of the five that were taken and I didn’t even take any, oops!
Overall it was a great weekend, thanks to everyone who celebrated with me!
